Coshocton County is a county located in the state of Ohio, United States. As of 2000, the population was 36,655. Its county seat is Coshocton. Its name comes from the Delaware Indian language and has been translated as "union of waters" or "black bear crossing". The Coshocton Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Coshocton County. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 568 square miles. 564 square miles of it is land and 4 square miles of it is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 36,655 people, 14,356 households, and 10,164 families residing in the county. The population density was 65 people per square mile. There were 16,107 housing units at an average density of 29 per square mile.
